Title:
Porosity 4 Prosperity: ‘Hollowing’ Hong Kong Mountainous Topography

Materials:
ABS, Perspex Sheet, Sand

Size (W x L x H) (mm): 1970 x 1015 x 895

Synopsis:
Land shortage has been an issue central to Hong Kong’s high land premium. Rather than building up from the ground, this proposal speculates on carving out from Hong Kong’s mountainous topography, creating buildable space without impacting the beautiful skyline and landscape of Hong Kong, such as the Peak. The idea is represented in an interactive model, inviting the audience to imagine the beauty of subterranean spaces. The excavated soil could be used for building the 1700 hectares Lantau Tomorrow Vision - the ambitious plan put forward by the Hong Kong Government in 2018.
